Brief description of project activities
Distribution of food packages to 1100 vulnerable households.
Distribution of hygiene kits to 600 households
The emergency caused by COVID-19 has drastically reduced the income levels of vulnerable communities across Pakistan and likewise in KP leading to insufficient food supplies for consumption particularly amongst female-headed households, daily-wage workers and disabled persons. Lockdowns have unfavorably affected several supply chains. To respond, PADO will use a three-pronged approach that will provide rapid access to food packages and hygiene kits for vulnerable families and awareness rising regarding coronavirus, preventive measures and information regarding its symptoms.
In collaboration with Care International in Pakistan and the relevant local authorities, PADO’s intervention will play a critical role to combat COVID-19 by providing rapid access to food packages sufficient for 1,100 households (7,200 individuals). The target locations in KP are finalized in consultation with relevant local authorities. Beneficiary lists will be finalized in consultation with local authorities. Food packages will be distributed to beneficiaries to ensure they stay in self-isolation while protected from starvation due to absence of livelihood options and food insecurity.
CARE has provided hygiene kits for 600 vulnerable families in KP (3,900 individuals) which will be distributed by PADO in close coordination with the government district authorities to select beneficiaries. As the confirmed cases of COVID-19 rise in the province, ensuring communities have access to hygiene products is essential to limit transmission.
Through a partnership with Radio Pakistan PADO will deliver public service messages regarding COVID 19 prevention and precautions to benefit approximately 20,000 individuals.
